PRESS RELEASE ON THE OCCASION OF THE MEETING OF THE HEAD OF EULEX AND THE MINISTER FOR COMMUNITIES AND RETURN

The rule of law is the basis of progress in every society, which is why we should strive for its best respect and implementation because it is a central element of reform processes, it was said today at the meeting of Minister for Communities and Returns Dalibor Jevtic and Head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission. and Law in Kosovo (EULEX), Lars-Gunnar Wigemark.
During the meeting, Jevtic expressed the opinion that the closure of cases of crimes that took place in peace after 1999 had a very negative impact on justice and trust, and pointed out that he expected justice to be served in these cases.
The importance of proportional participation of non-majority communities in public institutions and their active involvement in resolving key issues in Kosovo was discussed at the meeting.
Lars-Gunnar Wiegemark took over the position of head of the EULEX mission in January this year. Today's meeting of Minister Jevtić with him is the first official meeting. During the meeting, coordination was agreed on important issues on which EULEX can contribute.

The Washington agreement, the last round of talks between the Pristina and Belgrade delegations in Brussels, the ministry's plans for return and reintegration of returnees, drafting a law on return, challenges for non-majority communities, prosperity and future of youth in Kosovo, rule of law were the main topics discussed. during a meeting between the Minister for Communities and Returns, Dalibor Jevtić, and the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo, Jörn Rohde.
The two officials agreed that the success of the dialogue depends on the implementation of the agreements reached and that it is especially important that ordinary people have a concrete benefit from it.
Ambassador Rode pointed out the fact that the Government of Germany has been very committed to improving the living conditions of all citizens in Kosovo for years.
Jorn Rode took over as the new ambassador to Kosovo at the end of July this year, and this is his first official meeting with Minister Jevtic. Thanking the Minister for the warm welcome, the ambassador emphasized his belief that their cooperation will be at a high level in the future.
