Approved construction of new houses for returnees
Pristina, September 15, 2020
At the recent electronic session of the Steering Committee of the project "Return and Reintegration in Kosovo, Fifth Phase (EU RRK-5)", representatives of the EU Office and the Ministry of Communities and Returns decided to build 29 new houses for returnees and IDPs from municipalities of Istok, Orahovac, Štrpce, Peć and Gračanica. The electronic session was held in the presence of representatives of the UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which is implementing the project.
29 selected families of returnees and internally displaced persons with a total of 136 members, including small children, will directly benefit from the construction of houses. In addition to new houses, the most vulnerable families of returnees and internally displaced persons will also receive incentive financial resources to start their own business in order to have sources of income and thus become economically independent. The construction of all 29 newly approved houses is planned to be completed by the end of the year.
The mentioned EU RRK-5 project is being implemented in 12 Kosovo municipalities, namely: Gracanica, Kosovo Polje, Djakovica, Novo Brdo, Obilic, Orahovac, Prizren, Peja, Istok, Kamenica, Klina and Štrpce.
