Within the second phase of the project "Support to durable solutions for residents of collective centers in Kosovo", the Ministry for Communities and Return in cooperation with the European Union Office, is financing the renovation of the collective center "Bergen" in the village of Ugljare in Gracanica municipality. The plan is to renovate all 24 housing units within the mentioned collective center, in which 21 internally displaced families currently live in inadequate conditions. After the renovation, the representatives of the local government will assign the three remaining vacant housing units to the most socially endangered families.
Officials of the Ministry for Communities and Return, the mayor of Gracanica, Srdjan Popovic and representatives of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), which was entrusted with the project of renovating the collective center, visited "Bergen" today and made sure that the works are proceeding according to plan.
With gratitude to the Ministry for Communities and Return, the European Union and the Danish Refugee Council for a valuable project, Mayor Popovic said that poor living conditions were one of the biggest problems for the residents of this settlement, as well as local government representatives.
Completion of works and return of families to fully equipped apartments is planned for mid-December this year.
