Joint Press Release of the Ministry of Communities and Return, UNHCR and OSCE Missions in Kosovo

Minister of Communities and Return, Dalibor Jevtic, Head of OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jan Braathu and Head of UNHCR Mission in Kosovo, Erol Arduç conducted a virtual meeting to discuss overall community affairs, including fight against Covid-19 pandemic, provision of needed assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees and finding durable solutions for displaced persons through continuation of the regional “Skopje Process”. Minister Jevtic informed OSCE and UNHCR counterparts about ongoing activities of the Ministry of Communities and Return aim at achieving durable solutions for 80 displaced and vulnerable families located in IDP Collective Center in Štrpce/Shtërpcë municipality and covering the monthly rental/utility obligations of the most vulnerable 51 returnee families (226 individuals from Roma, Ashkalli and Egyptian communities) from Montenegro and North Macedonia that found temporarily shelter in seven Kosovo’s municipalities. The participants also discussed the importance of supporting return and reintegration process and expressed appreciation for ongoing and continued EU support in this regard.
The OSCE and UNHCR will support the Ministry’s efforts in conducting a regional inter-institutional conference on durable solutions for displaced persons within the “Skopje Process”, which could at this moment serve as facilitation platform for ongoing dialogue process in Brussels.
