Economic empowerment of internally displaced persons and returnees
Pristina, July 2, 2020
In its efforts to enable the sustainable return and integration of displaced persons, internally displaced persons and refugees from Kosovo, the Ministry of Communities and Returns, together with its partners from the European Union, encourages the economic empowerment of these families. Starting your own business with incentives from the Ministry of Communities and Returns and the European Union Office in Kosovo is one of the ways in which returnees and internally displaced persons are provided with socio-economic stabilization and subsistence.
To that end, today, four families in the municipalities of Gracanica, Obilic and Klina received valuable equipment for cutting and processing wood, cleaning and recording, which will be a source of income and livelihood for them in the future. In the previous period, the Ministry of Communities and Returns built houses for these families as part of the fifth phase of the project "Return and Integration in Kosovo" (EU RRK - 5).
During the handover of the equipment, the users did not hide their satisfaction and gratitude. According to them, they got what they needed for work and income, and the most important thing is that they can now support themselves and their family members from their own work. Without economic stability, there is no survival, and without the survival of those living in Kosovo, the return process becomes meaningless. That is why we strive to support those who see their future in Kosovo in this way. We are grateful to the European Union Office in Kosovo for supporting us in important projects and to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for implementing these projects.
