ANOTHER 250 m3 OF FIREWOOD DISTRIBUTED
Pristina, December 17, 2020
The Ministry of Communities and Returns financed and successfully implemented the procurement and distribution of 250 m3 of firewood. The beneficiaries of this assistance were 83 most endangered families with a total of 239 members from the municipalities of Ferizaj, Štrpce, Prizren, Obilić, Vushtrri, Istok, Klina and Peja. Families that, in cooperation with municipal return offices and communities and representatives of non-majority communities, were selected to help with firewood are the families of internally displaced persons, vulnerable elderly households, large families, returnees and members of non-majority communities living in isolated areas.
The Ministry of Communities and Returns, in cooperation with the European Union Office in Kosovo and the partner International Organization for Migration (IOM), recently conducted an action of distributing firewood to returnees whose houses were built in 2020. Shortly after this successfully implemented action, numerous new requests for the allocation of heating arrived at the address of the ministry from certain local governments, displaced persons and socially endangered families, to which the ministry responded positively.
Independently or in cooperation with partners from the European Union Office in Kosovo, the Ministry of Communities and Returns has helped 178 families with a total of 725 m3 of firewood since the beginning of winter.
