Representatives of the Serbian List, President Goran Rakic and Vice Presidents Dalibor Jevtic and Igor Simic, met with Matthew Palmer, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
At a meeting held today in Pristina, Goran Rakic, who is also the mayor of North Mitrovica, Dalibor Jevtic, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Communities and Return in Resignation, and Igor Simić, MA in the Kosovo Assembly, stressed that peace and stability in general The region's main goal is to be aware that it is not easy to reach this goal, but it needs to be intensively worked on. Serb representatives stressed that the Serbian List provides full support to the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, that the issue of Kosovo be resolved with a compromise, because only such a solution can secure a better position of Serbs in this region than it is today.
Mr. Palmer conveyed the views of the Serbian List that the key issues in which more efforts should be made to make the Serbian people in Kosovo live in better conditions, the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, and exclusively as agreed in Brussels, creating a safer environment for life for Serb minority communities, more efficient resolution of the problem of usurped property, position and protection of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the creation of better conditions for the return of displaced persons and the promotion of the economy.
It was also emphasized that dialogue should continue, because only dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and essential respect for the needs of the Serbian people in Kosovo can solve the accumulated problems.
The latest initiatives in the Assembly of Kosovo, when it comes to transforming the Kosovo Security Forces, is in contrast to the interests of the Serbian people in this region - said Jevtic, Rakic and Simic.
The Serbs' list and people who represent it want a better and peaceful life for all the peoples living in Kosovo - "We want all peoples in this region to live better than today. Such a thing can be achieved only by mutual respect and by making maximum efforts, "Rakić, Jevtic and Simic said during the meeting today.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Palmer said during the meeting that it is important for Serbs to participate in processes that are important for Kosovo and that only by participating in decision-making and attitudes can defend their interests and improve their position in society.
Otherwise, prior to the meeting with representatives of the Serbs in Kosovo, Palmer met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade a few days ago, while in Kosovo in separate meetings yesterday he met with Kosovo President-in-Office, Hashim Thaci and Ramush Haradinaj
