Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communities and Return in resignation Dalibor Jevtic met today in Pristina with a Norwegian diplomat and former Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Kosovo, Kai Eide. During the meeting, Jevtic and Eide discussed the current issues and political situation in Kosovo, as well as the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
During the meeting, it was concluded that the dialogue has no alternative and that there is a need for the issue of relations between the two largest peoples in the Western Balkans to finally settle a compromise on the Kosovo issue.
"There is an important need, first of all, all of us who live in Kosovo, which is to finally ensure lasting peace that will ensure a certain future. Mr. Eide is well aware of the situation in Kosovo, and as someone who has dealt with the problems of relations between the two peoples in this region, he can make his own contribution to the final solution of the problem. Today's meeting with Mr. Eide was useful and I think that he too could hear the situation from the perspective of the representatives of Serbs in Kosovo, "Jevtic said.
Kai Eide said he is staying in Kosovo to hear about all the problems Kosovo's society encounters and stressed that Belgrade and Pristina must finally come to the solution of these problems.
During the meeting it was emphasized that it must give up unilateral decisions and moves such as the introduction of a tax on import of goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in this way only the chance to continue the dialogue could be given.
Over the past few days, Mr. Eide met with several officials in Belgrade and Pristina where, on the first hand, the main actors could hear attitudes and opinions about the future of the entire region, especially those attitudes related to relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
